MIDLAND-Materials science company Dow (Dow) announced the launch of a new generation of non-fluorocarbon water-repellent finishing agents for fabrics based on silicone chemistry.

Dowsil IE-8749 emulsion does not contain fluorocarbons or fluoroalkyl groups. Unlike many traditional finishes, it does not require regular heat treatment to restore its waterproof performance.

Dow said that research on various textile substrates has shown that compared to standard silicone finishes, fabric retention is improved-it can still provide continuous water resistance after multiple washes.
